The GFFV Ride Vehicle

The Gravitational Free-Fall Vehicle is an innovative, award-winning dark-ride system allowing for the use of a internal free-fall function between the dark ride vehicle and it’s track.

The 3D SolidWorks Assembly

Inspired by an equally-innovative animated series, this system was developed as a conceptual ride system for that series.

Concept Sketches regarding the vehicle’s capabilities. It is shown here being launched off a ramp or cliff, tilting up to simulate terrain, or spin out through a 360-degree motion.

Using three pneumatic actuators, a platform is able to rise and descend at a speed of 1.3G, which is in line with many drop rides.

While not necessary for the project itself, we felt that we needed to emphasize the inspiration for it’s design. This lead to a development of an actual ride vehicle that would, ideally, be on top of this ride system at a larger scale. Based off the cartoon that inspired this ride system, a 6-person golf cart that could simulate crashes, falls, and chases.
